Intelligence

What do we know about intelligence? We know that a single ant probably has no idea what human consciousness is. Going on this, it makes sense that if there were higher intelligences out there, we likely would simply be incapable of comprehending them in any sense beyond mysticism. If we imagine a scale of intelligences that exist within our realm, it is likely that we are not on the top. Thus it is not absurd to imagine that, say, cats are to humans as humans are to dogs.

What does a single neuron know? Maybe we (humans, dogs, trees, butterflies) are all like neurons in a giant brain...

What about ants? If we imagine every ant on the planet or every ant in a colony as comprising a single organism, it's probably pretty damn intelligent. Such an organism might well have found ways to manipulate humanity, say by entering our brains through our ears when we listen to music through headphones. Music has profound effects on our consciousness, yet we don't really understand how it works.

Humans must be making other animals smarter. Selection pressure.
